Vapour recovery compressor

After emptying a liquefied gas storage container, the residual vapour can be recovered by means of a combination of compression and cooling.

A reciprocating compressor is used to compress the residual vapour to the storage pressure of the receiving vessel. The gas discharge can either be cooled by a discharge cooler or, at a slower rate, by the liquid already contained in the receiving vessel. Vapour recovery and liquid transfer may be combined in one unit.
